Give to our Communities

The Michigan Aurora Chasers consists of a community of people on social media, online and in real life, who help each other find the Northern Lights. As long as we have free platforms where we can share our work, the Michigan Aurora Chasers will always be free.

At times, however, the occasion does arise where our communities, organizations and/or individuals need our support.

Crisis in Northern Michigan: 2025 Ice Storms

The ice storms of March-April 2025 have devastated Northern Michigan. If you would like to help those affected by the ice storms, below are some places where you can donate. Many are struggling to find fresh food, clean water, or enough resources to generate electricity and heat in their homes.

Ice weighs down the trees in the Mackinaw City area after an ice storm coated homes, businesses, and power lines in northern Michigan at the end of March. Early estimates say it could take weeks or even a month to fully restore power to region. Photo by Patrick Grubba.

Below are some ways you can help — organizations making a difference who would welcome your donation.

In our volunteer efforts, we have heard that these organizations have people and services working on the ground to provide relief. If you know of others, please let us know inside our communities or contact us.

A Spirit of Community

The Michigan Aurora Chasers team believes in paying it forward and giving back to our communities. We make donations to dark sky parks every year, and in many ways, we quietly “pay it forward” when we are able to — sharing our time, resources and gratitude with the greater community.

The Michigan Aurora Chasers are not affiliated with any other businesses or groups, though we do promote a spirit of community and cross-promotion. We hope we can be a source of comfort and support when our members need it most!

Thank you for supporting the community!

Let's support our communities with worthy causes or in times of need.
