  • Kudos on a successful Statewide Live Chase! On June 10, 2024, the Michigan Aurora Chasers teamed up to offer the #LiveChase to the public in locations across the state. We successfully caught the Northern Lights!
  • Live Chase opportunities are rare. Take advantage of these unique events when you can! Any Live Chase events will be scheduled as our leaders are available. Making the choice to forego sleep and set daily life aside is left to our Admins and Group Experts, when they know they can devote the time.

    We hold these events when on high probably nights for active Aurora, and they are usually announced less than three days in advance. Often, the day of a chase! Please watch the Facebook Group to see the next invitation.

Our 100K Member Celebration

Now celebrating 100,000 members and climbing!

We are honored to lead such an amazing community of Aurora Chasers! During the historic G5 Storm of May 10-13, 2024, our group achieved 100,000 members and continued climbing.

We celebrated this milestone with the premiere of the 100K Tribute Video, which can be viewed on YouTube. We appreciate everyone who contributed to the video, and we’d like to give special thanks to Admin Patrick Grubba, who created the short film. Watch the Video.

Awards & Honors

While helping thousands of beginning Aurora enthusiasts catch their first display of Northern Lights, the Michigan Aurora Chasers have also garnered many awards for their work!

  • Group Expert Justin Miller was featured as a 2023 Northern Lights Photographer of the Year by Capture the Atlas!
  • Admin Marybeth Kiczenski was featured as a 2022 Northern Lights Photographer of the Year and for several years in a row by Capture the Atlas!

Visuals & Special Exhibits

The Michigan Aurora Chasers group features a talented team of administrators and Group Experts. Our growing number of Group Experts help understand what they are seeing and photographing in the mid-latitudes, where Aurora is more rare. 

Group Experts may also hold a #LiveChase at times, to share advice both in person and on social media, when Aurora activity is eminent.
